There's An Elephant Sanctuary Outside of Nashville

One thing we can all agree on is our love for elephants. We always wondered though, where do the elephants go after they are no longer in captivity? Turns out the elephants come to live out their lives here in Tennessee.

Once an elephant retires, some of them go to the Elephant Sanctuary located right outside of Nashville in Hoenwald, Tennessee! Their goal is to give individual care to the elephants that spent their life in captivity. Most of the elephants that live here in the sanctuary have lived most of their lives in the circus or other events.

Most of the elephants that live here range from 35 to 70 years old.

Although visitors aren't allowed in the complex, and if you want to procrastinate today and watch elephants run around, you can view the 'EleCam' HERE
