Town Bans Clown Costumes

When you think about clowns, you might either think they are terrifying  or very funny right?! One town up North is wanting to somewhat put a stop to people dressing up as clowns for their annual Boo Bash Event.

The town of Oak Park, Michigan let their residents know that at this years event, clown costumes wont be allowed. Now, you're probably wondering why right?! Is it because they are too scary? Is it because something had happened with clowns in that city?

The reasoning behind them saying no clown costumes is because, “clown costumes are considered too scary for children and have been banned in light of creepy clown sightings over the past couple of years. This event is centered around young children. In the past few years, many clown costumes have been given a very scary and evil look. Many scary and horror movies are centered around these types of characters.” said by Recreation Director Laurie Stasiak.

There has been an update:

Hours after the town decided to ban the clown costumes, parents voiced their concerns about the and officials are "encouraging parents to use their best judgment" when it comes to their clown costumes.
