Rep. Mary Littleton is sponsoring a new bill here in Tennessee. HB283 would increase time spent in prison and a fine for those that are found guilty of aggravated rape of a child right here in Tennessee. The current punishment for being found guilty of aggravated rape of a child is 16-60 years in prison and they also receive a fine up to $50,000.
If this bill is passed, aggravated rape of a child becomes a Class A Felony! This conviction would give the person found guilty, life in prison without a possibility of parole. This bill would go in effect starting on July 1st, 2019 if the bill gets passed.
