The Prepackaged Salad You Just Bought Could Make You Seriously Ill

Health officials are warning people to beware of premixed, bagged salads after at least 122 people have been infected by a parasite.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports salad sold by Jewel-Osco, Hy-Vee and ALDI has been found to contain Cyclospora. This is an intestinal parasite that can lead to a really bad case of diarrhea. According to the CDC, cases have been reported in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin.

Residents who have purchased bagged salad from the stores are advised to throw it away, per the CDC.
