Cop Buys Shoplifting Suspects Food

A cop in Massachusetts reportedly made a family's Christmas a little brighter after an attempted shoplift.

Officer Matt Lima says two women were failing to scan all of their grocery items at a store. When approached, Lima found that they and their children had fallen on hard times and were trying to gather food for Christmas.

Instead of arresting the suspects, Lima bought the women gift cards to use to cover the costs of all of the food they were needing.

Lima said the women were surprised and thankful and "I just did what I felt was right. It's not about me, I just tried to put myself in that family's shoes and show a little bit of empathy."

Has someone done something that kind for you? Do you think the cop acted fairly?
