I'm not one to willingly credit Ben Affleck for anything. He was pretty universally bashed for his Batman portrayal, and personally I haven't really liked anything he's been in since Dogma and that was YEARS ago.
BUT...by all accounts he's a really great dude, and at the end of the day that's what matters.
He came through BIG for Mukuta, a kid in Atlanta who evidently has only days-to-weeks left to live.
This started with a tweet that was calling just for a Batman costume or impersonator:
Hospice Atlanta is calling for Batman!— Evil Mel Tucker👊🏾 (@EvilMelTucker) April 2, 2018
Melissa has been next to Mukuta daily & has come to know that Batman is his favorite Superhero. He has cholangeocarcinoma.Sadly-His life is going to end soon (days/week)We need a Batman costume or someone to be the Batman themselves. 🙏 pic.twitter.com/l1uMvFaC3o
Somehow word about this tweet got to Batman himself - Ben Affleck - and the series of events that followed will bring you to TEARS, man. TEARS, I tell you.
Such a memorable day for Mukuta who’s a super #Batman fan! He received a phone call from @BenAffleck today. Thanks to the widespread community support and helping us deliver on our mission: To Improve the Lives of Those We Serve. #HospiceAtlanta @EvilMelTucker #Batman4Mukuta pic.twitter.com/l2Z8AdnHaX— Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta (@VNHS) April 5, 2018
While Ben was filming a movie and couldn't fly to Atlanta to meet Mukuta face to face, the kid got a Facetime call from BATMAN HIMSELF, and that's freaking awesome.
And, the story doesn't end there.
Evidently, Mukuta's mom is in Zimbabwe, and Ben decided she needed to be by her son's bed.
#HospiceAtlanta & Mukuta’s family are so thankful to @BenAffleck, who following his FaceTime conversation w/Mukuta yesterday, has graciously offered 2 fly his mother from Zimbabwe to reunite with her son. A true superhero in action! #Batman4Mukuta @DabneyHollis @VNHS 404.215.6011— Visiting Nurse | Hospice Atlanta (@VNHS) April 6, 2018
Way to go Ben. There's nothing more important than doing wonderful things for kids like Mukuta all around the world.
