Ever since the tragedy at an Antioch Waffle House on Sunday morning, we've been learning a little more about the suspect, Travis Reinking, who was arrested just after 1:00 this afternoon, has a history of mental illness and was on the radar of federal authorities including the ATF.
Additionally, he was arrested in July of last year outside the White House, where he was armed and claimed himself to be a "Sovereign Citizen"
Sovereign Citizen is an anti-government organization that believes the federal government is operating outside of its jurisidction. Sovereign citizens believe that they are not bound by laws, taxes, or even law enforcement.
While it's unclear if this movement had anything to do with Sunday morning's attack, it will certainly be taken into consideration along with Reinking's past criminal history.
USA Today was the first to report the Sovereign Citizen story.
Regardless of the motive, we're thankful that he's finally been apprehended and we can spend our time now focusing on the victims and their families.
The "Hero" from the tragedy, James Shaw Jr., who suffered injuries while wrestling Reinking's AR-15 away from him, has also set up a GoFundMe page for those victims.
