Warner Brothers Pictures and DC Comics are working on an origin film dissecting the beginnings of The Joker, and Joaquin Phoenix will be the title character. Portrayed as "Arthur", allegedly The Joker's real name, Phoenix falls somewhere between the unkempt look of Heath Ledger's Joker and the cartoon clown look of Jack Nicholson's character.
Phoenix will be the 5th "Joker" character for live action Batman movies, following Cesar Romero, Nicholson, Ledger, and of course Jared Leto in the Suicide Squad. The movie, which is yet-to-be-titled, is directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover).
People are a little on the fence about Phoenix's portrayal, but isn't that honestly how it always is? Remember people were DRAGGING DC about Jared Leto's Joker, and he actually ended up being pretty good (although the rest of that movie was fairly disappointing).
What do you think of the Joaquin Phoenix Joker? Are you excited about the Joker origin film?
