The TV Show Nashville helped launch Nashville's exponential growth, and now another show based around Music City is in the works.
Freeform (formerly ABC Family) is working on a new show set in East Nashville called East Nasty.
The show has some weight behind it, as it's being written by Jamie Rosengard, who also wrote on the show Empire.
A news release about the show says "The show follows two best friends - one a black, queer singer-songwriter, and one a seemingly tailor-made country musician from a deeply religious family - struggling alongside other musical misfits for a place at the table. Though they don't fit the face of sound of conservative country music, they will fight to lend their unique voices to a genre steeped in tradition and history."
Though we don't know a lot about the show, it is expected to have a different tone than Nashville, and honestly I'm pretty excited about this one!
No other information has been released at this point.
