Callum Manning is a 13-year old in England. A few weeks ago he started sharing his favorite books on Instagram, highlighting a wide range of titles from Pride and Prejudice to The Shining to Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
"Yo, it's me Cal and I LOVE books" is the bio on his Instagram page.
Unfortunately, because the internet can't have nice things, he started getting trolled by a bunch of kids at his school, who were being awful to him in the comments. His older sister, not wanting her brother to be discouraged from reading, just tried to get a few or her friends to follow his account so that he'd feel a little more hopeful about his passion.
“Can’t believe how awful kids are. My little brothers [sic] made an Instagram reviewing and talking about books and kids in his new school have seen it and have created a group chat calling him a creep slagging him off about it and added him to it so he could see.”
The tweet was shared over 24,000 times, and suddenly Cal's Instagram account has soared to nearly 300,000 followers!!
And, to add to Cal's passion, he's started an Amazon wishlist with books he'd like to read, and has been gifted books from hundreds of people around the globe. He's even been contacted by some of the authors he's reviewed.
