The police officer who was caught on video kneeling on the throat of George Floyd has finally been arrested in Minneapolis.
Derek Chauvin, who was one of four officers on the scene arresting Mr. Floyd, an African-American male who was accused of using a counterfeit $20 bill to pay for groceries. A bystander video shows George, on the ground, pleading with officers with the words "I can't breathe" as Chauvin kneeled on his throat. Reports say that George Floyd had no pulse when the ambulance arrived on the scene.
The officers were fired by the Minneapolis Police Department, but no further action had been taken up to this point, inciting national outrage and anger, including protests and riots in Minneapolis that have made national headlines over the last few days.
Finally, after three days of protests, an arrest has been made of the former officer, although the other officers on the scene have not yet been charged.
This is a developing story.
