Maren Morris has long been one of our favorite local artists. She's immensely talented, says what's on her mind, and is one of the most humble, down-to-earth people in the music industry. She took another step to prove that with a donation to a local high school arts program.
Back in 2017, Morris set up a fund through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee called HEROES to support fine arts programs and music education in local schools. This year, even with the pandemic, the band will still march on, and most arts programs are SEVERELY underfunded and in need of expensive instruments, equipment, and maintenance.
This year, East Nashville Magnet High School's Band Program was the lucky recipient of a $70,000 check from the fund.
The band's director, William Jackson, wants to get in touch with Maren and show their appreciation and prepare a special musical show of their gratitude.
