Instagram Rolls Out Two New Features

Instagram is unveiling two new features to help you create a more secure experience inside the app.

The first, a "Your activity" tab that allows you to bulk delete content and interactions. So any of your posts, stories, reels, comments, likes, or reactions can be filtered by date, searched, archived, or deleted. You an also see your search history, see which links you've visited and how much time you've spent in the platform.

To access your activity, go to your profile, click the menu in the upper right corner, and select "your activity".

The second new feature is a "security checkup," which has been beta testing since Summer 2021. It allows users of the app to check login activity, review information, confirm accounts and update account recovery information like phone number or email address. That feature can be found in your settings.

There are other changes in the works as well. Instagram is testing a way for locked out users to ask their friends to confirm their identities in order to regain access. It's also slowly testing creator subscriptions - sort of an OnlyFans model that allows influencers to offer their followers paid access to exclusive content in the app. TikTok has been experimenting with a similar program.
