Local and National Assistance for Furloughed Employees

With the government shutdown now extending beyond one month, many government employees are facing financial and emotional distress. Luckily, many national and local businesses are here to help them out! 

Below you will find a list of available assistance. 

FOOD

M.L. Rose Craft Beer & Burgers: From now until the end of January, furloughed employees can receive a $5 burger and fries by showing their government ID. NOTE: This offer is only available at the Capitol View location.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee: The local food bank is offering food assistance to employees affected by the shutdown. For more information, call 615-329-3491

Hunger Free America: Call 855-859-4647 from 8am-4pm CT to be connected with resources near you or visit their website here.

Hudson Group: The Hudson Group has over 1,000 stores in airports across the country. They are currently offering 20% off food, beverages, and core store products to TSA and customer workers. Workers must present their TSA or Trans Border ID.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop: Through January 27th, government workers can receive buy-one-get-one-free sandwich deals when they present a federal government ID.

Fazoli's: Participating locations are offering a free Pizza Baked Spaghetti with the purchase of a drink to all federal employees that provide a valid ID.

Macaroni Grill: With a federal ID, Macaroni Grill is offering government employees free Mom's Ricotta Meatball + Spaghetti. This deal is valid until the end of the government shutdown.

FUN

Discovery Center: The Murfreesboro location will offer free admission to federal employees and contractors affected by the shutdown on Sunday, January 27th. In order to receive free admission, you must present a valid federal ID upon entry. Valid for up to 4 guests.

Harlem Globetrotters: Government employees on furlough may present a valid government ID at the Bridgestone Arena box office for complimentary tickets to the Harlem Globetrotters on January 26th.

Nashville Zoo at Grassmere: The zoo is offering free admission and parking to all federal employees and their immediate family for the entirety of the government shutdown. 

Sky Zone: Participating locations are offering 60-minutes of play for FREE for furloughed employees and up to three immediate family members. For more details, click here.
