The Florida State Wildlife service is tasking the public to help locate and report any mating horseshoe crabs so they can track these little creatures!
Apparently horseshoe crabs are ACTUALLY crabs, they're more closely related to spiders and scorpions! According to Sun-Sentinel, they are also ancient survivors from the period BEFORE the dinosaurs and have declined in the past few decades from the loss of their habitat due to construction!
These crab eggs are important food for migrating birds & the adult crabs are for fish, sea turtles, alligators and other creatures! Florida State Wildlife officials are worried about the survival of these little creatures and you can help save them by watching them have sex!
