Did you know that penguins produce laughing gas by their poop? LOL Apparently this is a real thing!
Researchers in Denmark and China were studying the effects of retreating glaciers and the surge in penguins on greenhouse gas levels on South Georgia Island! According to their research, the influx of penguins leads to more penguin poop -- therefore even more greenhouses gasses!
Now, the penguin poop itself doesn't contain the laughing gas, but the nitrogen in the poop enters the ground, where the soil turns it into nitrous oxide **aka laughing gas** -- so these researchers had quite the time getting high on laughing gas all thanks to research!
