There's A New Fan Vote-Driven Category For The Oscars And It's A Mess

In an effort to get more people to watch the Oscars, they have added a fan-driven category to the show.

The Academy has introduced an “Oscars Fan Favorite” category, which is an attempt to integrate more popular films into the mix and to keep people interested in the annual show that continues to drop in viewership.

They had people vote for their favorites on Twitter, which brought on some very interesting suggestions. When all was said and done we got the top ten entrants of:

  • Spider-Man: No Way Home
  • Dune
  • The Suicide Squad
  • Army of the Dead
  • Tick, Tick… Boom!
  • Sing 2
  • Cinderella
  • The Power of the Dog
  • Malignant
  • Minamata

The Oscars will take place Sunday, March 27.
