One of the most iconic paintings is by Andy Warhol of Marilyn Monroe.
It recently sold at auction for a record-setting amount of money. The 1960's painting went for $195-million, making it the most expensive work by a U.S. artist ever sold at auction. The price blew past the previous record holder, Jean-Michel Basquiat, whose 1982 painting “Untitled” went for $110-million in 2017.
"It’s an amazing price. Let it sink in, it’s quite something," said Alex Rotter, chairman of Christie’s 20th and 21st century art department.
