Fans Have Found A Plot Hole In 'Stranger Things 4'

SPOILERS AHEAD!

The fans have some questions for the Duffer Brothers surrounding the new season of "Stranger Things." There's one specific episode in question and the complaints have caught the attention of the Duffer Brothers.

In one of the earlier episodes of "Stranger Things 4: Vol 1" we see that Eleven is struggling. She's having a rough time getting used to her new home in California and making friends. She's lied to Mike about this and has consistently told him how great her time has been in her new home. When Mike comes to visit her and Will in Cali, she takes them to the local roller skate rink where Will confronts El about lying to Mike this whole time and asks her to tell him the truth. Keep in mind, Will has been pretty much miserable since Mike got there because he hasn't been getting much attention.

She doesn't get a chance to tell the truth, as the group of "cool kids" start to bully her on the rink. A kid is filming the bullying taking place where you can see the date on the screen-- March 22. That's Will's birthday. Fans remember that day very clearly as in Season 2 Will's mom, Joyce, says his birthday as they try to bring Will back from the trance of the Mind Flayer.

Seems everyone forgot Will's 15th birthday... including the Duffer Brothers. In an interview with "Variety" Matt Duffer said, "The honest response is, clearly, like the characters in the show, we also forgot about Will’s birthday. So the debate now is whether we adjust Will’s birthday or we just let it be really sad.” He continued, “We love Will and I don’t want people to think we don’t love Will because we forgot — we do!”

His idea is to "George Lucas it" by overdubbing the older episode to make Joyce say MAY 22 is his birthday so that it doesn't seem like his mom forgot his birthday.

They're very apologetic about the mistake. Ross Duffer said, “It was obviously a mistake. We’re sorry. We apologize to the fans.”
