YouTube Cuts Ties with Logan Paul

On December 31st, YouTube "star" Logan Paul, posted what is possibly the most offensive and heartless videos ever on YouTube. The video, titled "We Found A Dead Body in the Japanese Suicide Forest", featured the body of a man that had recently taken his own life in the Aokigahara Forest, which is known for being one of the most common places for suicide in the world.

Paul received a LOT of backlash (as he should). YouTube received a lot of hate as well after they released statements that left many (including myself) feeling like they let him off too easily.

However, YouTube has since decided to FINALLY cut financial ties with the "star".  According to a spokesperson, YouTube has "decided to remove Logan Paul's channels from Google Preferred. Additionally, we will not feature Logan in Season 4 of 'Foursome' and his originals are on hold." The company has also canceled his upcoming YouTube Red movie.

As a huge supporter of suicide prevention, I am SO glad that YouTube has chosen to take a stand. Suicide is not something that should EVER be taken lightly or used for someone else's gain. It took longer than I would have hoped for them to take a stand, but at least they've done something about it.

If you, or someone you know, is considering suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK.
