Amy Poehler's Netflix Comedy is Based on Actual Trips with SNL Friends

On May 10th, Amy Poehler will make her directorial debut with the release of her Netflix Original, Wine Country. The comedy will star several of her SNL castmates including Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Paula Pell, Tina Fey, and Emily Spivey.

Wine Country will follow a group of longtime friends as they celebrate a birthday in Napa. And guess what...its based on Poehler's actual travel experiences including a trip to wine country for Rachel Dratch's 50th birthday and a Palm Springs trip with Ana Gasteyer.

Amy Poehler told Vanity Fair,

"There's just not enough films that take full advantage of what it's like to be our age and to be around women that have known you for a really long time but aren't competing for the same job or the same guy."

So, grab your girls, get some wine, and plan on a girls night on May 10th when the movie premieres on Netflix!
