In partnership with Belmont University and his wife, Kimberly Williams-Pailsey, Brad Paisley is opening a free grocery store for those in need. On Wednesday, Paisley broke ground on the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Like, literally...Brad controlled the machinery and everything!
The grocery store, which will simply be called "The Store", will run just like a normal grocery store. Customers will shop the aisles as usual, and Belmont students and volunteers will scan their items. However, no money will exchange hands. The idea for the store, which will open on Belmont's campus, came after Brad and Kimberly volunteered at a similar store in California with their children.
The Paisley's even received praise from Barack Obama!
In typical Brad Paisley fashion, he replied with a joke, saying
"Thank you! Oh, and retirees like yourself often get obsessed with lawns & landscaping. So, when you need a backhoe operator, I’ve just gone pro."
