Madonna lost her appeal to block the sale of a handwritten breakup letter that Tupac Shakur sent her back in 1995.
Madonna’s former friend and art consultant, Darlene Lutz, consigned several items, including the infamous letter to her online auction house, GottaHaveRockandRoll.com.
Last year a judge dismissed Madonna’s case against Lutz after paperwork surfaced that had Madonna signing off on a release which prohibited Madonna from suing over the sale of the letter.
In the love letter, Tupac told Madonna that they had to break up because she’s white. "For you to be seen with a Black man wouldn't in any way jeopardize your career. If anything it would make you seem that much more open & exciting," Shakur wrote. "But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my 'image' I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was. I never meant to hurt you."
The letter, along with other personal Madonna items will be auctioned off next month.
GottaHaveRockandRoll.com said the letter could fetch $400,000 at auction, court papers show.
