President Donald Trump spent some time last Saturday speaking with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over the phone. While the conversation was expected to be quite friendly [as Australia is a close ally of the United States], things reportedly turned south when Trump began berating Turnbull for a refugee agreement he made with former President Barack Obama.
At one point, Trump informed Turnbull that he had spoken with four other world leaders that day — including Russian President Vladimir Putin — and that “this was the worst call by far.”
Senior U.S. officials who were briefed on the exchange allege that Trump abruptly hung up on Turnbull after just 25 minutes, although the call was supposed to last for at least an hour.
