At the 89th Annual Academy Awards, host Jimmy Kimmel took a dig at President Trump for his comments about highly acclaimed actress, Meryl Streep, being "over-rated."
[POTUS was upset with her after her passionate Golden Globe Awards acceptance speech, where she condemned his alleged behavior towards a disabled reporter.]
Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a.....— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017
Hillary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never "mocked" a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him.......— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017
"groveling" when he totally changed a 16 year old story that he had written in order to make me look bad. Just more very dishonest media!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 9, 2017
Streep's Best Actress nomination [for Florence Foster Jenkins] at the 2017 Oscar's was record-breaking, putting her at 20 total nominations over the span of her career.
Kimmel encouraged the audience to give Meryl a "totally undeserved" round of applause, as she “stood the test of time for her many uninspiring and overrated performances.”
Jimmy said: “May I say from her mediocre early work in The Deer Hunter and Out of Africa to her underwhelming performances in Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie’s Choice, Meryl Streep has phoned it in for more than 50 films over the course of her lackluster career. This is Meryl’s 20th Oscar nomination. Maybe even more amazing, considering the fact that she wasn’t even in a movie this year. We just wrote her name down out of habit.”
What do you think about all of this?
