The director of the live-action remake of Disney's Mulan [Niki Caro] just revealed some important details about the upcoming film.
While there has been much disappointment over her former statement that the movie would not include music - ("no songs right now, much to the horror of my children," Caro told MovieFone) - Caro just told The Hollywood Reporter that music will be part of the picture in some capacity.
"I haven't even started on the movie yet," she explained. "I haven't seen a single casting yet, and these are conversations that are all ongoing. The live-action is based on that inspirational Chinese ballad and on the animated Disney classic. We're still exploring the role that music's going to play in it, but for sure there will be music."
Yay! They're going to do it right!
Except a list of characters being cast in the film made its way to Twitter, and it seems that Captain Li Shang is being replaced by a new character named "Chen Honghui."
How do you feel about this remake?
the mulan live action may have songs now but they're still replacing my boy li shang for some imposter and that's unacceptable— Q (@magrotrobbies) April 3, 2017
