Okay -- try not to panic and/or hyperventilate when I tell you this, but...DARTH VADER IS REAL!
And he lives right here in Tennessee.
Darth Vader Williamson, 39, works as a surgery technician at a hospital in Memphis, TN.
"I like to fly under the radar,” he told ABC News. “I’ve always kept a low profile. I’ve never been like, ‘Hey look, my name’s Darthvader.'"
[But I mean, with Thursday being Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you...), he knew he couldn't hide forever.]
“When I was born, my mother wanted me to be named junior, which was after my father, Anthony Lee Williamson,” Williamson continued. “But with him being a ‘Star Wars’ buff, he was enamored by the character Darth Vader, he was like, ‘this would be one bad name for our son.’”
(Apparently his mom had never seen the movies, and had no idea that Darth Vader was a villain. LOL!)
While he did get made fun of for his name as a kid, Darth loves his name now.
“I used to get in fights because my name was Darth Vader. I use to be made fun of, ‘hey space boy, come here!’” he told The
But eventually, girls started to pay attention to him because of it, so no big deal. HA!
"I just grew to love it from there," he said.
Williamson also told The Tennessean that it’s gotten him out of traffic tickets, given him a four-percent reduction on a credit card rate, and led to invites to all kinds of “Star Wars” events.
Amazing, right? LOL!
