Fergie has faced tons of criticism after performing a pretty *unique* version of the National Anthem at Sunday's NBA All-Star Game.
Fergie.....what in the fresh hell was that? Omfg😂😂😂😂😂🇺🇸— Ricky Manning (@TheRickyManning) February 20, 2018
Fergie released a statement on Monday addressing her noticeably sexed-up rendition.
"I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem, and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA," she said. "I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best."
What did you think about Fergie's performance?
I have now legally and officially been declared deaf after listening to Fergie sing the National Anthem— J. David Alvarez (@DavidAlvareeezy) February 20, 2018
Here’s the thing. While Fergie’s anthem rendition fell flat, I give her enormous credit for owning it & saying she tried her best. No excuses or lashing out at the millions of critics who couldn’t sing 1 word of that song in key. Give her a freaking break. She won me over today.— Len Kasper (@LenKasper) February 20, 2018
24 hrs later I’m still wondering why Fergie did what she did...— TJ Lang (@TJLang70) February 20, 2018
I finally listened to @Fergie ‘s national anthem after seeing all the headlines about it yesterday...yes, not Whitney Houston but I don’t think it was THAT bad..and certainly not as bad as the headlines...bottom line still better than I could do— Greta Van Susteren (@greta) February 20, 2018
