Following both a heart attack and a staged-paparazzi-photo-scandal, Meghan Markle's father [Thomas] told TMZ that he will no longer attend the royal wedding May 19 -- because he doesn't want to embarrass his daughter or the royals on her big day.
If you're not familiar with the staged-photo-scandal, here it is in a nutshell: Thomas sold paparazzi photos of himself "preparing" for the royal event for around $135,000.
Apparently, Meghan's [estranged] half-sister Samantha -- who is writing a book about the bride-to-be -- set the whole thing up for their dad, claiming that she just wanted him to be seen in a "respectable light."
In response, Kensington Palace told news outlets that Meghan was in the midst of a “deeply personal moment," asking for "understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.”
