Instagram users, rejoice!
The photo-sharing-app has just announced the addition of a "Mute" option -- so you don't have to jeopardize any of your friendships by unfollowing that person who drives you nuts with their posts.
you can mute people on instagram now I’m bout to get back on instagram— nathan zed (@NathanZed) May 22, 2018
Apparently the Mute feature will take a few weeks to show up for everyone, so no need to panic if you don't have it just yet.
If and when you decide to mute someone, you’ll still be able to see Direct Messages from them and view their photos (if you go to their profile page). [And if they ever tag you in pictures or comments, you'll still be notified of that, too.]
Instagram just released a mute feature and I heard friendship dynamics across the world shifting— Man Repeller (@ManRepeller) May 22, 2018

"instagram now has a mute button so you can unfollow your friends without unfollowing them" AS IF instagrams algorithm would allow me to see my friends posts in the first place— gherkin 🥒 (@ayeloads) May 23, 2018
So Instagram is rolling out a mute feature on posts. Thank God!!!— Mustard and Lomi Apologist (@neosgirlxjadine) May 23, 2018
Would’ve been better if they can also revert the home feed back to chronological order. How ‘bout it @instagram?
So many broken friendships over an unfollowing have just been prevented 🙌 https://t.co/Dee5gpZU2t— BuzzFeed (@BuzzFeed) May 22, 2018
