This is the kind of news we want to see!
An incredibly sweet moment between Florida police officer Tony Carlson and a homeless man named Phil is currently going viral. The two were captured on video in the parking lot of a Circle K, where the officer was seen helping Phil shave his face.
The homeless man applied for a job at McDonald's and was told he needed to shave his beard. When an officer spotted him struggling to shave without a mirror, he helped him get cleaned up -- and get hired! https://t.co/lghm9hj9CK (Video via Tallahassee Police) pic.twitter.com/5rph8TGlKR— WSVN 7 News (@wsvn) July 23, 2018
Apparently Phil had attempted to get a job at the McDonald's next door, but was told that he could not be hired unless he cleaned up and shaved his beard. When Officer Carlson spotted Phil struggling to shave [without a mirror] in the gas station parking lot, he took it upon himself to step in.
“If he’s wanting to help himself, I need to be more than helpful and try to help him out the best I can,” Carlson told the Tallahassee Democrat.
The heartwarming story even has a happy ending -- Brittany Duhart, a manager at the McDonald's where Phil applied, confirmed to CBS News that Phil got the job and started on Monday.
