Witnesses say it all started when Nicki purposefully stepped on the hem of Cardi's floor-length Dolce & Gabbana gown so forcefully that it ripped, leaving her underwear exposed. That's when Cardi B retaliated by throwing her shoe -- and the confrontation only escalated from there, as you'll see in the video below.
Nicki was pretty content to stand behind her security team, despite the fact that she seemingly started the whole thing -- and Cardi was having none of it, taking to Instagram to speak on the situation later that night.
