After years of staying notoriously silent on matters of politics, Taylor Swift has come out in support of democratic candidates Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper ahead of the Tennessee midterm election.
"In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now," Swift said in an Instagram post. She then went on to discuss Marsha Blackburn's voting record, stating that it "appalls and terrifies her" before revealing that Phil Bredesen & Jim Cooper will have her vote. You can read her full statement below.
Needless to say, the internet lost its collective mind -- with many voicing how proud they were of the snake queen while others literally set fire to their Taylor Swift merchandise.
[It also did NOT go unnoticed that she waited until the U.S. leg of her reputation Stadium Tour ended to come out with this. Love it or hate it, pretty genius of her.]
