Meghan Markle might be a literal princess now, but just a few years ago, she was single as a pringle and frustrated AF about it. [God, she's so relatable.]
In 2015 (before her love affair with Prince Harry began) she was not only an actress, but a blogger -- and she used her website [The Tig] to share Valentines Day advice with her fellow single ladies. **It's really, really good; and now that she's had her frickin' Cinderella moment, I'm eating it all up.
“Last season I was chatting with my Suits sister wives, Sarah and Gina, and was in some sort of funk, bemoaning something that was so futile I don’t even remember what it was now. But I was faaaaaar from showing [myself] self love,” Markle wrote.
“One of them stopped me — truth be told I can’t remember which one because they both impart their sage wisdom with me on the daily — but one of the stylish wise ones stopped me and said, ‘Hey! That’s my friend you’re talking about. Be nice to her.’"
Meghan then went on to explain that her girls were just trying to get her to be as kind to herself as she is to others -- to be her own Valentine.
“This Valentine’s Day I will be with friends, running amok through the streets of New York, likely imbibing some cocktail that’s oddly pink, and jumping over icy mounds in my new shoes through the salted snowy streets of the West Village,” she noted in the post.
“But those shoes, by the way, were my gift to myself. Because I’ve worked hard, because I’m not going to wait for someone to buy me the things I covet (nor do I want to), and because I want to treat myself as well as I treat those dearest to me. Because I am my own funny Valentine."
Given that she met her ACTUAL PRINCE in July of 2016, it makes me emotional to think that Meghan's fairytale was right around the corner -- and she had no idea.
I don't know about you, but that's kind of the most hope-inspiring, romantic sh** I've ever heard. Here's to all of our love stories, whenever they may unfold. Happy V-Day!
