Instagram to Warn Users When They're About to Leave A Mean Comment

Instagram just announced the roll-out of a bunch of ~*NeW fEaTuReS*~ that aim to combat online bullying.

The app will now literally warn users when they're about to post a mean comment. Apparently artificial intelligence will analyze whatever you write, and if it appears to be confrontational, you'll be given the opportunity to write something else.

"From early tests of the feature, we have found that it encourages some people to undo their comment and share something less hurtful once they have had a chance to reflect," Instagram says.

You'll also be able to keep certain users' comments from appearing on your feed -- without letting them know that you've filtered them out, as Instagram is aware that blocking or muting users can escalate already tense situations.

"We know bullying is a challenge many face, particularly young people,’ Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri wrote. "We are committed to leading the industry in the fight against online bullying, and we are rethinking the whole experience of Instagram to meet that commitment."
